After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... wine bottle and then we thought they were off on the trail, but no they got in the car and drove on!
At the end of the gorge we joined the road towards Cannes, which was route Napoleon, orginially created by him as a pass through the mountains...very windy. Our destination for the evening was Grasse where we found a good park overlooking the city lights and our first view of the Med.
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... Sailboats were docked at the marina (knez, it made me think of you). Diane ordered mussles and Jon and I had our first mussels ever. They were delicious. Thank you Diane for helping me discover my love for sea food. St-Tropez was further than we thought, but thank god we ...

Later, we enjoyed some leisure time walking around the Palace Square, through the lanes and streets of Monaco-Ville. At 3pm sharp, we watched the Changing of the Guard in front of the Royal Palace.

Back at the ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... is visiting another country, the port state, then the laws of the visiting country must be followed as well. Vessels that are flagged in the United States must only hire crew that are American citizens or those who are legally allowed to work within the US, in spite of where the vessel is cruising. The same applies to all vessels that are registered in any of the countries of the United Kingdom. None of these vessels may employ anyone who is not a citizen of the UK ...
Antibes, Provence, France mylifesjourney... euro;150 up, so I was very happy with that. It was a very elegant casino, nothing like crown. Crazy looking chips, drink service included on the tables, sticks to push your chips around the massive table with 4-5 staff at any one time servicing the table. Bar drinks were an astronomical €6.5 for a half pint. We headed back around 11pm, I had a couple of drinks and went off to bed around 1pm. Also I forgot to mention, the public toilets here don't have toilet seats... What's with that.
Antibes, Provence, France stevencranston... Because the French winter time is summer in Australia, these flowers bloom in the winter and are compared to a weed because they sprout up everywhere, but they are much more loved here than any weed in America. Everyone pays 5 euros for a bunch in the markets but if they just go on a short hike they can get as much as they want for free. We went on a trail to a pretty high hill where we could see almost a 180 degree view of the Mediterranean, Cannes ...
Antibes, Provence, France k1thomasWe have been in Antibes for a week now and it is time to go out to Nice airport and pick up Chris and Gray, who will be with us for the next 10 days. What have we been up to? Settling down a bit actually. Patrick (our exchange) arranged for one of his colleagues to provide us with her car (swapped his with hers. His was an Audi TT 2 seater - bit difficult for 4 of us) so we have a small older Opel, but more than adequate and we can do things together. That ...
Antibes, France bucksbeach... city downtown core and recommended several places for us to try. Sure enough we found one. We have been fortunate throughout the trip having strangers take us under their wing and provide us guidance unexpectedly. We found out later the reason accommodations were scarce is that Antibes is hosting a BOAT SHOW THIS WEEKEND!! Henry is thrilled. He's been down to the docks eyeing all the YACHTS ...
