... we made our way up the hill to the castle. There is a great view of Dieppe form the top and we could see their two huge churches and the stunning coast. After making friends with a cat, who we named Cookie Dough and declared guardian of the castle, we explored a little more before making our way back to the car and on to Rouen.

A Very Emotional Day

Today was a huge day for all of us as we remembered the fateful day in 1942 when Canadians landed at Dieppe. It was August 19th and the plan to gain a foothold on the continent had been "fiddled away" to become a quick raid. There were several objectives for the raid...but it was doomed from the start. Peaceful drive of only 458 miles except for the roadworks in Caen with the "Deviation" signs going round in circles eventually managed to bypass these and get to the camp site around 6pm instead of 4pm

Dieppe is where we are headed. We go into town to the city centre and the beach area. We look around to find something for the war, but can't find anything. ... first I left Dieppe by afternoon after saying the farewell to everyone and I got picked all the way to Honfleur while crossing the Normandy bridge. Quite Impressive!
