... It's right next to the Jardin de Luxembourg. Hotel is called Hotel Observatoire Luxembourg. The highlight of the week was my birthday dinner. Greg and Mandy had done some excellent restaurant research and we went to a very French place, complete with live music. Our hotel was even happy for us to have a bottle of Mumm (that we'd brought from Reims) as pre-dinner drinks in the lobby. They supplied ice bucket and glasses! You get an ...

... could ascend. This seems to be the case everywhere in Europe now....for future reference it is better to purchase tickets on line prior to coming over so you can skip the line! Surprise was the church next to it. Like most Italian churches, paintings and stone work adorn the structure. Part of the structure contains a domed enclosure. With Karen in hospital, me having to move accommodation and the French rail strike still causing major disruptions across the country, I was lucky that Mick's dad was flying in to Montpellier and they were going to pick him up. Montpellier is a much larger station than Carcassonne so they were just cutting back services, not cancelling them all. It was about a two hour drive but past some lovely old places that would be amazing to be able to do up - with a few million euro!

... Moulon Rouge. He gave them Wayne's name so they wouldn't recognize that the Robert group didn't show up last night. We played Spades in the small lobby until we had to leave at 10:00 to get in line for our tickets. The 11:00 show just means that you enter the theatre at 11:00 but the show doesn't start until 11:30. We were seated at a table for 4 and they were great seats. Each ticket entitles you to 2 drinks, so you order right after you are ...

... finally found our way to the (currently being repaired) Arc de Triomphe. And again I took some great photos of what I was hoping to before my battery in my camera finally gave up on life and died. So since there was nothing really left to do, we just headed back to 67 and watched a few episodes of the third season of Sherlock which took us until 1:40am. And now I'm in bed at 3:34am and finally signing off for the night, so goodnight and I'll talk to you ...
