Shelburne Revisited

... br>Electra Havemeyer Webb (1888-1960) founded Shelburne Museum in 1947 to display her collections. She took the imaginative step of collecting 18th and 19th century buildings from New England and New York in which to display the Museum's holdings, relocating 20 historic structures to Shelburne including houses, barns, a meeting house, a one-room schoolhouse, a lighthouse, a jail, a general store, a covered ...

Along Stowe's Bike Path

October 19, 2009

We drove to the ski town of Stowe and spent a sunny afternoon biking along the river, the path criss-crossing the river by way of ten bridges, bordering pastures and farms. The leaves are falling and the colors fading but it was still a pleasant ride ending at the Brookdale covered bridge.

Long Story Made Short

... br>
http://www.shelburnemuseu m.org/

We went straight from there to the Ethan Allen III for a cruise on Lake Champlain. It was pretty windy and a little cold but absolutely beautiful. Then off to the hotel and a group dinner with our new Texan friends; a really great group of people :-)

Exploring Vermont

... I'll put a couple photos of the room.

On day 2, we decided to head north, away from the crowds, and find the ever shy Moose. Eight miles from our place is the ski resort which has a road to the top of the mountain, or you can ride the gondola (we were going to do the road since it was 36 degrees this morning). Well, when we started up the mountain we encountered a wee bit of wet snow, which basically freaked out all the ...

... city in the nation, sitting at the end of Lake Ontario. We turned right, and headed into the Adirondaks. The higher we got, the more leaf color we saw, and by the time we got to Tupper Lake and Lake Placid, the leaves were peaking, and spectacular.

We had lunch in Lake Placid (town, not THE lake) and Sandy shopped a while. Then it was back down the mountain and off ...

Wagons were American or European or Asian and had scenes on
them to represent that area. I never saw a circus like this parade and
it just looked so exciting. Would have been the best thing to come to a
small city in those days. The museum also had a small carousel beside
the circus horseshoe. A nice lady was running it and called for us to<br ...

... unfortunate, especially because the detective who is currently Munch's partner is a huge jerk. Oliva isn't as hot as she is in later seasons, but Elliott still has an intact family and at least every other episode, he's half naked. My biggest qualm, though, is that B.D. Wong isn't on the show yet, and that attractive, queer Asian American actor and activist who costs $7,000 for a lecture is a pretty big deal for me in the show. (No ...

Burlington Day 2

... tour. It had nothing on the Sam Adams tour we took in Boston, but this one was free. We returned the rental car with only slight hassle and got to the airport around 4pm. The desk clerk asked us if we would give up our seats to get on another flight and get home an hour earlier plus 2 free round trip tickets, we said yes! Great ending to a wonderful vacation.
