In the beginning......

... burnt off the cheese dough ball by walking round in circles for an hour.

The next day I got a bus out of town to Teotihuacan, which is the remains of an ancient city with two massive pyramids. Just before I climbed the biggest one, I saw an old rusty caravan on flat tyres in the corner of the courtyard, with a red cross painted on the side. At this point I almost induced a panic attack hoping that I wouldn´t get a heart attack climbing the pyramid, as clearly any medical ...

Anche se in spagnolo ho compreso quasi tutta la narrazione dell'audioguida; la chiesa ce l'ha sempre avuta la mania del controllo e dell'annichilimento del pensiero ...

Dia Uno en mi viajes!

... took me to a little poky Cantina he knew, where we had a few Mexican beers (he ate snails) and chatted away like old friends. I was constantly aware that i might be in the process of being scammed (which is a shame), but it all turned out really well. I got to practice my Spanish for hours and realise that i am not that bad after all - just need some practise. In the end i think he was a bit ****** and he took me to some weird ...

... and things. She asked me if I wanted to go with her on Wednesday to a Mexican jail as they are putting on a concert for the inmates. She showed me some photos on her computer, and it looks pretty cool, and an experience no other traveller would have. I wanted to go pretty bad, but Brendan wasnt keen, and I feel abit responsible for him at the moment until he can atleast get on a bus by himself, so I had to knock back the opportunity. Im regretting it already, but I know Mum and ...

Woolworth´s is alive and well... in Mexico City!

I was too embarrassed to ask the taxi driver to stop when I saw the giant sign WOOLWORTHS. He was listening to Vivaldi and I don´t think he would have appreciated my strange attachment to a gringo discount store. I wanted to take a picture as proof to those back home that the land of spectacular Aztec and Mayan pyramids had also somehow managed to preserve our much loved store. The journey from the airport takes about 20 minutes along a never ...

Already planning my next trip to Mexico!

... head out to the floating gardens outside of town. It all sounds good in my head, but the problem is finding the time. Fourth year should allot me a little more vacation time, but I'm going to have to work my travels around my interview schedule. Oh well, I'm not going to look that far ahead now, because I have another trip to look forward to here over the next couple weeks. Stay tuned amigo's!

Mexico rocks

I was quite glad to leave New York, even though i had to wake up at 3 in the morning which no man should ever have to do. The plane journey was an excercise in patience and reinforced my strong commitment to never having children, i was surrounded on all sides by them; kicking, screaming, throwing up over things, but luckily i had my mp3 player and a set of head phones to watch to film so i managed to blank out most of ...

Adios Mexico

So actually the 20 hour journey wasn't too bad. The scenery was great - a lot of it by the coast - except that the rainstorms that seemed to accompany us nearly all the way obscured the view slightly. Mum also managed to collect a fair amount of the rain through a leak in the roof, but shutting the curtains seemed to divert the water to the guy sitting in front so that was OK! We also had a few random lighting effects as the water seemed to affect the reading lights and an ...
