... relaxed visit in Puebla.

Tuesday we woke up, got ready, and headed out to find breakfast. We sat in a little cafe with a great view of the main church. Then, we walked to a bus station and headed towards Cholula, a town with a pyramid on the outskirts. We didn't really know where to get off in Cholula, I was expecting a bus station, and so we didn't get off until the bus driver had reached the end of his route and told us we had to get off. Whoops. ...

My parents, sister, and cousin flew down to Puebla for the weekend.

Arriving Friday at 3pm, we were only able to squeeze out a quickie tour of Puebla's Zocalo, a meal of comida poblana, shopping at El Parian, mezcal at the hotel bar, and late night tacos on Friday.

Reflecting on what we did that weekend makes me remember how little we were able to see. Puebla is a great city with much to see, do, and eat. ...

... vicinity. In Pueblo Leo was waiting for us, another CouchSurfer who offered us couch. Leo studied tourism, so he was great host and the guide in one person. Upon arrival, we attended real Mexican family celebration. Leo had been invited to celebrate the birth of baby of his classmates from the studies. Mexican party, that's something! Service is top notch, hired waiters and cooks. In Mexico, one does not need hesitate to take to party ...

... like a big hill. The colonial settlers built a church on top of the hill and the church (Our Lady of Remedies) is apparently now a pilgrimage site. At the base of the pyramid are a number of market stalls selling handicrafts and some refreshments. Some particular refreshments took Georgie and Jess's eyes - dried crickets. They were both keen to try them (I was not) and a backpacker in Mexico City had told us that it was like eating potato chips. ...
