... visited the Mercado San Martin one evening. The market is not traditional at all, it is actually more of a tapas (Spanish appetizers) market. One gets to walk around and just buy samples of the most traditional flavors of Spain. Amelie needed to have Paella, and we had it several times, but that was her biggest request. Probably the most impressive part of the palace to me was the Royal Chapel. It had more gold than almost any other church/chapel I've seen, which is saying something. It was a Baroque-style chapel almost entirely either black or gold. I walked in and just said "wow."

Few other random notes on the palace: they had a small collection of Stradivarius violins, violas, and violincello, ...
