As we drove closer to San Marino, we all started saying, "Did she REALLY say "the NATION" of San Marino?? And that's exactly what it was: It's full title is "The Republic of San Marino". John will do doubt tell you of its history. It's set high on a mountain, with the most glorious view and was yet another treasure chest waiting to be opened for us! So the time has come to move on again. Tomorrow we are getting the morning train to Venice, hopefully giving us the afternoon to look around and have some dinner before getting the night train to Budapest. It will be our first experience of a sleeper train and we have heard mixed reviews. Still, we are both excited and can't wait to get to Hungary... a step closer to Moscow!

Am nächsten Morgen - nach Frühstück - Aufbruch nach Assisi - ca. 15 min. Fahrzeit. Da d** Parkplatz am Fuss des B**ges liegt auf dem die Stadt liegt - kurzes "Schlucken" - ab** in 10 min. warn wir beim Dom - dann ar wied** alles ok !

We got to Rimini later that night after Pompeii. It was another 6 hour drive so again we were exhausted. We checked into the hotel and it was perfect. Nicer than the last one we were at. We had booked in advance for the night and the rate was 30eros cheaper than the next night so we (I) thought we would just get there and tell them we wanted another night at the same price. Lazio’s quarterback played a couple years in Bolzano and has played in various places around Europe for at least 6 years. The water temp was cooler than in Sicily but still pleasant enough. by this time the sun had disappeared behind rain clouds. We headed back into town for coffee & shopping. Mandy found a ring but didn't buy it. I think she regretted it as for the next few days she wanted to head back to Fano.

We left for Urbino after breakfast for a quick trip (Birth place of Raffaello - painter) of course coffee & gelati was part of our plans with some sights thrown in.

Nice place and worth the trip. No time to view the museo a bit of a shame as there is a section with Rafael.

We had some great views going over the mountains going to/from Urbino. Mandy is handling driving the larger car just fine.

... photos and memorabilia of Rossi’s career and along with the other geeks we checked it all out. Across the road was the Official Rossi Fan Club headquarters and we strolled in to see his bike which he won the 125’s on and lots of career photos. We joined the fan club for 40 Euros each which gave us a t-shirt,cap and bumbag and keyring. The people there also gave us posters hearing we had come from Australia and been to the races. Rimini Vi kom fram, vips, to minutter senere var vi ved et hotell like ved stranda. Vi ble plukket opp av en som jobbet ved hotellet, han skaffet kunder, slapp oss av og gikk igjen. Da vi prøvde å prute, kunne plutselig ikke mannen engelsk, uhyre irriterende. Vi betalte ca 150kr natta, grei pris syntes jeg, Petter var en smule mer skeptisk, vi slo oss til ro med prisen.
