Lotus Pond

A travel blog entry by sting on Oct 03, 2014

Got to the hostel and the nice owner took me across the alley to the market for a buffet. Then I rode the MRT to Lotus Pond, ate some Beef Noodle soup, the went to the harbour area where there was Bikertopia going on... a motorcycle conference with a giant stage of music and spotlighting after dark, but no band.... just local bike club guys driving the bikes on stage with little scantily clad taiwanese girls waving their flags from the back seat.

... back here! Other than that we chilled back at the apartment until Sunday evening, when Alexandra was feeling slightly better, and we ventured out to the "Flower Market" a.k.a the biggest night market in Tainan. It was huge! Similar to every other night market we've been too so far, but still pretty cool. ... over the ocean. However, it is quite expensive to enter at NTD $250 and there isn't really that much to do there. Plus, annoyingly there are audio guides which explain the history of the building but they're read by an American trying to do an impersonation of a British accent.

I wish I spent a little longer in Kaohsiung because there were a few other things I wanted to do there. However, I was going to Kenting the next day and Kenting is one of my most favourite places ever!

... a giant ornamental archway from which to proceed under, and all the way along its length was "misters" - little spray nozzles hung above the walkway that pumped out a cooling mist, which was highly refreshing! It was a cool street, offering lots of little snack food outlets along its length, and plenty of fresh fruit juice vendors and tea shops (these two things are EVERYWHERE in Taiwan!), but also plenty of little quirky stalls, selling things that ranged from handmade ...
