A good backpacker's option. Reasonable price, central, rooms comfortable, and a great value breakfast!

We stayed in the backpacker wing of this hotel and stayed in a 6 bed dorm. The decor was really nice and it did feel much more like a hotel than a hostel. It's located right in the centre of the city, close to the coast and car parking.

You also had to hire your crockery and cutlery which was a bit of a pain but I can see it was their attempt to make people wash up after themselves. Saying that, it didn't really work as the kitchen was always filthy and you got the feeling that the staff felt it wasn't their job to clean it? So it was just left, dirty and horrible.

The WiFi was free but didn't work very well. The only place you could get any signal was in the reception area.

Do stay here though, it is nice and was a good price for a city centre hostel.

A backpackers wing in a fairly posh hotel (in my opinion) clean, tidy, nice atmosphere, very nice shared bathroom facilities, $2 eggs on toast breakfast meal (but if you want extras like bacon or hash brown they cost extra- $4 for bacon for example). Kitchen a little small and not many cooking utensils, no freezer, and you have to pay a $10 bond to get your own set of crockery and cutlery (stops naughty people who don't do their dishes). Good central location, 5 minute walk to Te Papa, no parking.

clean showers and toilets, and bedrooms. could get quite noisy with rooms backing onto each other. Kitchen small, and have to rent the cutlery etc, small lounge area so not great for meeting people, but a cheap option for a short stay in wellington.

          Kia Ora, dear friends,

greetings from the capital of New Zealand, the second largest city in the country, with the population less than 400 thous. people. Wellington is known as a cultural centre of New Zealand with many art galleries and museums.

The centre is small, charming, quite and straightforward, not very much similar to …

Our journey to Wellington was reminiscent of our journeys in South America. Our Ferry crossing from Picton wasn't until 1.30am, we got into Wellington at 4.30am and we couldn't check into our hostel until 2pm! We're getting pretty good at night time travelling and this time we had the car which we could sleep in which was good. After we arrived in …

We started our morning off with a bus ride and went to the Weta Workshop and Weta Cave. The Weta Workshop made the props and did CGI for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, amongst many other movies. One gentlemen there told us that Weta has worked on over 220 movies and has won 56 oscars. The Weta Cave is basically a gift shop with some …

Today we flew to Wellington, New Zealand!! Sad to leave Australia, but excited for the second stage of our trip. Despite an early morning we didn't really get settled in Wellington until the late afternoon thanks to the time change. After grabbing some lunch we decided to walk up to the Mt Victoria Lookout. It was just down the street from where we …
