    ... out our old homes. They have weathered the 40 years pretty well. We spent a very pleasant afternoon with Naomi and Joe Leonici in Streamwood catching up and telling stories. Thursday night we had dinner at my Cousin Brett's. Jeanie had a delicious lasagna dinner and Sharilyn and her two boys were there also.     ... the park to something resembling its original state although there are now many invasive species. Only about 1% of the original tall-grass prairies that once covered Minnesota remain. The hiking trail goes past the pipestone quarries where you can watch the stone being chiseled using hand tools.

    After the hike I drove to Minneapolis and got a room.

    At Madison, we would typically have small seasonal celebrations in the den, perhaps serving popcorn and lemonade. In England, their holiday dorm parties consist of renting out a club and giving the residents free drink vouchers. I'm certainly not in Kansas (or Wisconsin) anymore...

    ... took a chance and asked the Embassy driver to take us to the Ramada. He said yes. So at least we were out of the airport.

    Once on the shuttle, I felt like I was back in Europe, this man was an insane driver. It was pretty scary, in blizzard conditions.
