I am very fortunate to have been selected to travel to India as part of Rotary Foundation's Group Study Exchange.
The program is summarized at www.rotary.org: "The Rotary Foundation's Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the ...
... I'm not sure why, but that whole process doesn't seem as scary anymore.
I was VERY close to signing up for a volunteer trip to Costa Rica when the Morocco opportunity came my way. After I got back from Morocco, I wanted to make this a reality, so I signed up to volunteer for one week in an orphanage in Costa Rica at the end of February. The program is through (IVHQ) International Volunteer HeadQuarters, and I have heard nothing but positive ...
... My Sisters Keeper based on the Jodi Piccoult book, all she has to say is READ THE BOOK! Ha, ha. We both enjoyed heading off and doing our own thing but we are never disappointed to meet up again.
We stayed in High Cliff State park, on another gigantic lake (Lake Winnebago!) with big gigantic beautiful limestone cliffs that you can walk along and even through. We enjoyed walking through ...
... Paris was glad to see us and the garden was overflowing and not to badly destroyed by those Japanese beetles.
Note: I just want to say that I would highly recommend Rita and Lino's farmhouse and cooking lessons!! They were wonderful hosts! I think that you can find their website under Tartaruga Tours. They are also the ones who recommended our fantastic trip planner and guides, Jim, Tony and Jane.
... it is mostly industrial but has a certain charm especially with the river. It is also the home of the Green Bay Packers and the locals are very proud of their team. Unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't get to go and look at the stadium (they had their training camp on which would have been interesting to watch.
The next day we were up and off to Grand Rapids / Duluth.
... Moriah! Straight out from the bus station is china town, just like asia but less crouded. We caught up with Mary (from camp), who drove up from rhode island. It was a nice chilled day and very hot. those desperate fro coffee made a stop into dunkin donuts. I held out. I spotted a cute cafe where we ate a little and I had a road runner, a mix between chai and espresso latte. It was amazing, I don;t know if i will be able to drink anything else now. we went up the ...
Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States tissnseven... have been invaluable getting us to an from the airfield (although a shuttle is provided for campers) There is even an outdoor theatre like a drive in but more like a walk in or bike in near by and every night a movie is shown and last night Harrison Ford did the introduction. Yes that Harrison Ford, the actor, as he is a pilot and is involved with EAA.
The weather has improved somewhat, there are still showers , but Jo finally has sun tan marks on her feet from her jandals.
... on a trip with their siblings. But Jeremy and I both agree that we will someday take another trip together. We many not always agree, but he is a great friend. Now it is time to get back to reality - work, responsibilities, life. But a little part of me will always be in Italy. Or actually a little piece of italy will always be with me!
Pictures are of a few oddities we encountered on our trip.
... remained soaked through out the rest of the day. After ten hours of riding and finally arriving at Mrs. Haines house, I was able to take my boots off and take a hot shower...Thanks Mrs Haines!!!
After the rained stopped it was a very long but for the most part a pleasent ride. 577 miles today. I was pretty tired after the 400th mile.
It was gloomy all day through out the entire rid, but enjoyed it ...
Well, I've started this travel blog a little prematurely, but I'm too excited to keep everything quiet. Trisha and I have officially started saving for our world travel adventure which will begin on the 6th of April 2010. Still deciding exactly where to start our trip and how it's all going to work out. All I know is that it WILL happen. 9 months to go. Until then this blog will help me organize my thoughts, ideas and potential travel destinations. Can't wait to get started.
