After leaving Hilton Head, we decided to stop and explore Savannah en route to St. Augustine. We ended up spending most of the day here and had a great time. On a side note, one of the things I have noticed changing significantly as we work our way south is the roadkill. Along the way we have seen deer, racoons and unidentifiable rodents but in South Carolina and Georgia the roadkill king is the armadillo. ...

... Squares, 22 in all, which have some historical significance. Some have elaborate fountains, monuments to war heroes but all have lovely shady resting areas with park benches under Live oaks and huge great Magnolia trees.
