As part of my time here at Carnegie Mellon, I have been given the amazing opportunity to travel to Doha, Qatar over Spring Break to tour our Middle Eastern campus. The program is called IMPAQT (Initiating Meaningful Pittsburgh and Qatar Ties) and our goal is not only to foster relationships between the two campuses, but also promote a more hefty exchange program for semester or year-long study.

My first meeting was in the faculty building where I met the PICU doctor in charge of their 'codes' (what we would call crash calls but they differentiate into categories 'condition A' a cardiac or respiratory arrest or other emergency, 'condition C' something extremely urgent which is a critically ill child but not as severe and then 'condition H' where a family trigger a response as they fear that their child ...
... line for 15 minutes then got told they were closed. So we, and everyone else in the line, went to Wendy's next door. What unfolded next was hilarious and unbelievable. They completely got our order wrong, tried to offer Steve things via the drive thru speaker box that he hadn't asked for...I guess you had to be there but we were all in tears of laughter.
Tomorrow we head back to Chicago...gonna be a tough morning to say good bye.
Today was amazing. One of those days that remind you how lucky you are to be where you are and to be with the people you are with.
It's my birthday today. I got heaps of Facebook messages yesterday from friends in Australia, which was a nice start to my birthday.
