After a 5 hour flight from Toronto, arrived in Vancouver at 9am local time, thats another 3 hours lost on top of the five that went AWOL in Toronto. I am now 8 hours behind my beloved Greenwich Mean Time. Staying in a bit of a rubbish hostel, but only here for 2 nights, then off to pemberton festival on the sunday to see Death Cab For Cutie, N.E.R.D, Coldplay and Jay-Z. Back in the hostel in vancouver for one night on the monday and then off on a tour of whistler, banff, jasper and the rockie...

just a very quick entry, not really much to write about, but I don't know if I'll have access to the internet the next couple of days. Had a quick mooch about Vancouver today, went down to Gastown, which was quite nice, got a photo taken next to the steam powered clock. On the whole though, not greatly impressed with Vancouver. When we went down to Pacific Central Station today to pick up our greyhound tickets to Pemberton there were more skagheads than buses. Still, off to Pemberton festival...

Well, I've arrived in Vancouver after the impressive (in my opinion) bus-ferry-bus-bus-wrong bus-right bus trip. I left the hostel at 6.30am and didn't get to Vancouver till about 12.30! I was lucky when I arrived that I got off the bus just outside the Cambie Seymour hostel which I was able to get a room in for six night (since the place I was booked into was near the depressed end of town and was apparently not safe to be walking around at night in). Canada oh Canada, I arrived in Canada fine, no mistakes this time ;) Even managed to get a 50cent bus ride from the airport to Downtown Vancouver, Score! ...that was all the canadian coins i had on me...so the bus driver showed pity ;) First two nites i was stayin at Cambie hostel on Seymour, which was a bit dodgey...well, there was only one 4bed dorm! the rest was all private rooms...One guy in our room snored so loud tho...i kept laughin at the thai girl, cause she was directly under his be...

Last year it was Yellowknife...this year Vancouver. Next year? Your guess is as good as mine. I'm not trying to travel all over the place...honest...it just seems to happen. I'm just going to take it one day at a time (as my friend Evelyn so nicely reminded me yesterday when we yapped on the phone).

... at 7.30am and caught a taxi to the Hotel, we were lucky to be able to check in so early. In the afternoon we took a bus to Robson Street and walked around the shops then went back to the Hotel.

... tour of their own. They treated me to a meal at a Thai restaurant in the area where they used to live. I had origionally planned to do all kinds of other things during my time on the West Coast, but I am so over travelling and I am so spent of all energy. The fact that I did these things is amazing. The big plans will have to wait for another time. So, it is off to Toronto for more visiting, but home is almost in sight.

... over here (plus too expensive to get international roaming for a year). Pre-paid aren't cost effective either. A couple of other traps are that you normally have to pay for incoming calls as well, and they have local and long distance mobile calls as well. If we bought a phone in Vancouver, it'd have a Vancouver number and if we then used the phone outside of Vancouver it'd be a long distance call. So we might just use phone cards and public phones for the timebeing.

... and we were both awake. Summer had visitors on her door step about 5:45 who were lurking like peeping toms outside. Beau and Nessa recognised us pretty much right away; Cori was baffled and kept jumping on Summer. She realized who we were about 5 minutes later and couldn't give us enough kisses! The drive home seemed like forever. I just wanted to get to my own bed and snuggle down with the dogs.
