This hotel is located right by the lake in the old quarter with plenty of restaurants nearby.
The rooms are nice and comfortable and breakfast is very good.
The best thing about this hotel is the amazing staff. Thuy Morning and Thuy Afternoon are just exceptional receptionist who will go out of their way to do anything to assist.
They managed to change train tickets we had been sold in HCMC to soft tourist class for us and the porter even escorted us to the train station, changed our tickets and put us in our carriage on the train. This is above and beyond the service I would expect anywhere.
We unexpectedly returned to the hotel having had a very bad experience on a Hanoi Bay Cruise with The Real Kangaroo Cafe and the staff were so kind and gave us an upgraded room for our stay.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough it really is a perfect base for exploring Hanoi.

... We knew that. And didn't really fancy seeing Ho Chi Minh embalmed. It was interesting to see the place he was housed in. We then made our way round to the one pillar pagoda. This was literally as it sounds. A little pagoda sitting on one pillar. Measuring 3m squared. The next place on our list was the B52 bomber shot down in the lake. The one they passed on top gear, this proved interesting, as it seamed to be hidden down a little alleyway. ...

Apparently the front seats also get wet during the performance. The band consists of wooden flutes, drums, gongs, bamboo xylophones and a single-stringed zither a bit like a Swanee whistle. We are treated to an amusing, graceful and dramatic show with fire breathing dragons and smokey special effects. Such energy and enthusiasm to bring to 2184 shows a year!More beer and a late supper before we turn in...
Vietnam's capitol city is over 1000 years old yet it has definitely kept up with the times. Its streets are a constant flow of motorcycle and scooter traffic. Cars show up here and there but two wheeled transport is definitely the mode of choice. The room at our hotel faced away from the street and this afforded our first chance in days to sleep in. After our last Vietnamese breakfast of the trip, we head out into the morning rain to see how much of this city we can take in ...
... boarder line freaked out by the coincidence we arranged to all meet and catch up for the remainder of the day which was brilliant. The next day Lisa and I went to the nearby prison museum which was dubbed the Hanoi Hilton during the Vietnam/American war. Previously built by the colonist French to Imprison revolutionists, the Vietnamese then used the site to imprison (or more like house) American POWs, including former ...
