    A Weekend at the Beach

We'd been told there was some paperwork to complete at DHL before we could pick up the Redarc so after crossing the border we headed for their office in Thessaloniki, Greece. We thought that it would just be a matter of filling the paperwork out, paying some duty and then collecting our parcel but it wasn't that simple. The woman at DHL told us we had to have the form emailed to us from the Athens office and then ...

    Second Teat, Sithonia

We decide to move on from our near perfect site and drive to the second teat, Sithonia peninsular. It was not a big drive and to our delight we found another free camping area right on the beach. We drove in to a site that was a deserted 1970's hotel complex however the beach was cluttered with people looking very much like a penguin colony.

We got back on the ...

First teat of the Greek Udder

A travel blog entry by plimmerton on Aug 08, 2015

... we could cruise safely towards our first peninsular, Kassandra. We arrived towards the end of the day looking for a camp that people had recommended. There were two camps and they were both choker. We drove to the beach and to our surprise found that several campers were pitched so decided that this would be fine for us too. We had a delightful swim after a big drive. ...

Sithonia is the 'middle finger' of the Halkidiki Peninsular. We found a bay with sandy beaches and a campsite with a view of Mt Athos.

In fact it seems more as if Mt Athos watches over us. It stands off to the east and continually changes in the light. One can feel its "magic' even across the sea. For over a millennium there has been a religious sanctuary here. It was reputed ...
