Tonight is the last night in Corsica. What a wonderful reunion (and introduction) it has been with the Angonno's. We were musing that none of us had much knowledge of Corsica and selected it as a destination somewhat on a whim. How fortunate our whims are so wise. This place is full of beautiful scenery and lovely people. ...

... pretty beach town. We arrived and realized they were having a fair. What serendipity! We enjoyed seeing the various carnival rides and vendors. And it was eye-opening to experience an outside perspective on America -- check out my photo of the Team USA ride. Yikes. We then found a lovely little restaurant and sat waterside. Like, toes in the sand by the side of the water.

No insights. No quips. Just a fun day with some wonderful friends.

On Friday I flew from Amsterdam to Pisa, Italy. We drove to the lovely agriturismo they were staying at just outside of Lucca. It was a working olive oil farm and absolutely gorgeous. Tuscany looks just like every picture or painting you've ever seen of it. Breathtaking.

My night in Italy offered lots of laughter and some truly phenomenal food -- and a bit too much Italian vino. ...

We only have one full day here, a bit like our stay further south at Bonifacio, arrived one afternoon, have a full day, leave the next morning. We are both in awe of this place - it is spectacularly gorgeous. We decided to maximise our time here and explore the local area today. First thing after breakfast, and it is a VERY good breakfast, we walk into the local village. It is a very old village, 900 years and apparently has a great ...

... common on a sign, didn't get to see it in real life though, more's the pity. Came a round a sharp bend to a herd of goats chewing their way along the roadside. Gave me a bit of start! L'ile Rouse sits at the base of some pretty impressive mountains right on the coast and driving along the coast road put us both in mind of the Great Ocean Road again. This is a truly beautiful spot. We are staying in a hotel up in the these mountains about 4k's from L'ile Rouse at a small but old village ...
