... final hunt was on the 31st. The Atherstone hunt met at the kennels. This time I rode Ben, a bay cob. I was quite nervous as I hadn't jumped home before, and he was a bit more of a goer than George. But the first fence was a small friendly one and after that we were away. We covered a lot of ground and jumped probably 40 fences including some more great hedges. The antis were out in full swing following us over private land ...

... all day. We finally found the path and had just about reached the car when the snow stopped and the sky cleared to a perfect blue. We turned around to be faced with a perfect snow covered winter wonderland with the sun gleaming on the rocks and freshly fallen snow, beautiful. The first thing we saw as we hopped off the train was the grand cathedral behind some nearby buildings so we decided to head in that direction. It was just beautiful. I was stunned at ...

... a window seat but upgraded" she said. Well bloody hell, that was twice in one week we'd been upgraded, but this was a bit more worthwhile. Twelve hours on a plane with your legs stretched out instead of up your own **** sounded good to me. We survived another long flight helped by our upgrade "Another drink Sir." - Go on then. And landed at Heathrow 12 hours later. We'd booked a night at the Heathrow Thistle Hotel. Why the Thistle, you may ...

      Nottingham to Penrith

Not the best night's sleep - a few nerves. Today is my first day on my own starting with a train trip from Derby to Penrith. Derby to Crew went smoothly - found the platform, train arrived early and I boarded and found a seat (with a table). Crew was busier with trains arriving every few minutes at the same platform and only giving passengers a minute at most to get on. This leg of the trip I had an assigned seat in coach A. Coach A is normal ...
