So rushing it a bit I left the house and went 2 days to Les Saintes, 2 cute small islands south Guadeloupe. Sleeping in expensive bed and breakfast wasn't an option so I put my hammock wherever I could hide because free camping is not allowed (yeah it's free so...). ... arrived at a very basic looking house on the beach which was deserted other than for a shirtless man unpacking things from his ute (pick-up truck). Dad asked if this was Chez Samy and if he was open. We had just met Samy!

A self-taught cook, Samy had resided in the same beachfront location for over twenty years. He had to rebuild after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. A meal at Samy’s is like no other. Samy had the coals smouldering on the bar-be-que ready ...
