Today we cruise into Corfu, Greece. It is a beautiful sight as we enter the harbour. Corfu town is shown as Kerkyra and is the capital of Corfu island. It is the third largest town on Corfu island. Corfu has over history been ruled by the Venetians, the French, and the British, and each occupier has left their own mark on the town. It is the only town in Greece with a cricket pitch! There is 3-4 thousand olive trees on the island and many are 400 years old. ...

We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.

... so I wanted to get a good nights sleep. The next day we went on a cruise. The captain was called George and he was a hilarious old Greek dude who had been running the cruise since the 70s. Safe to say he was a little bit creepy but in a harmless old man way. He also had a delicious deck hand called Andreas who rather enjoyed all the attention he got. The cruise was definitely a highlight of the trip for me. I had so much fun. We ...

Corfu - day 11

Weather: some cloud, sunny but not as warm as previous days We decided to hire a car today with Paul and Pam and head out around the island a bit. We had to check out of the hotel at 10.30am so we didn't want to get to sandy or anything because there was no where to go and shower afterwards. We had our breakfast, packed up, had a cold shower because everyone was showering at that time and headed out to find the car. We got a little white car ...
