Our last day we checked out of the hotel and met a friend from my University days for lunch, then went for a look at the famous Venice Beach before going to our hotel. Because we needed to be at the airport by 6am we decided it was wisest to get a hotel close by.

Once again, it was sad saying goodbye to Colleen & Gary, but we hope it won't be too long before we see them again.

So, we begin the last leg of our adventure - 8 days in Hawaii. ...

... car and make ourselves at home in our new home away from home. We were given a family room at the back of the hotel complex which meant we had two rooms of beds to choose from. The room was quiet and neat and had all the amenities that we needed. We took some time out to relax and unwind before heading off to Downtown Disney, a shopping and eat district of Disney. First, we had to pass through bag security check points. Fun!

Checking in process for the cruise was about 3 hours but I guess 2000 people is more than your normal charter flight. Went to our stateroom only to find a big blower trying to dry out a leak from the AC... It's now been 24 hours and we still have an industrial blower in the room making a hell of a din and very cold to boot. (Watch this space) Up at 6 am and straight to the gym ...

... 8221; then you won’t really understand our reference to it here, but the main street lit up with all of the neon was like walking into the movie—just gorgeous. Every detail was captured. Mark was snapping lots of pictures of the neon that was everywhere. Worth the price of admission as it felt as if you were walking into the movie. If you haven't seen the movie "Cars" we highly recommend it -- great buddy movie.

... but usually you can park at the top. The Observatory is open for sky viewing and lots of people are wandering around looking at the view from the Hollywood sign to the city spread below. The changing light is amazing as the city takes over from the setting sun but part of the fun is all the people.

Dinner was at Polly’s Pies and needless to say the best cherry pie we have had. Might have to break our rule of not eating at the same place twice and have that ...
