... these bars you just go up to ladies and ask them to dance, changing partner for each song. Fine if you can dance, but when you have a slight(!) lack of confidence in your dancing you have to dig deep to ask people to dance. In truth the ladies are very kind and tried to help me along and sometimes I wasn't too bad....other times I was. So the days continued, salsa lesson during the day then hitting another club/bar solo in the evening to practice. Often people say you should ...

... salsa, champeta, you name it! You then had the owners and all their friends bouncing on top of the cars, ****** as *****; definitely my kind of scene.

The night after we met Ivan's friends and went to an open air electronic club so Jolanda and I were in our element and danced until 4am, happy days.

Sad goodbyes with Ivan the next day with lots of promises to see each other when he moves to ...

At first glance, the city doesn't seem like anything special, but Valeria and Jan's friend (who was a huge ***** the whole time and had a terrible attitude) knew the good spots to go clearly and I now have a much different opinion of the city. The amazing salsa definitely helps though. After an hour or so, Valeria and I headed to the hostel to grab my bag and guitar and head to her house. ...

... the bed super hard though.
Monday July 7th. We decided that we would go to the zoo which is advertised as the best in Colombia. It was certainly a nice few hours spent there. It has a small aquarium, aviaries, butterfly enclosure and monkeys, cats and llamas. The focus on Colombian animals was great for us to see. We were surprised to see construction in progress for a dedicated Australian set of exhibits including ...

After a ridiculous hour long wait we got the shuttle from the airport to Cali bus station then a cab to our hostel, called El Viajero.

We only had one full day in Cali so wanted to make the most of it. We were flat out from the moment we left the hostel. We went to the gold museum, the artisan markets, the Central Park, the church at the top of the hill, then walked to the zoo. It was so hot everywhere ...
