We spent our first day at sea. It was a beautiful day and I sat outside in the deck reading for most of it. Matt played some poker and did some writing. It was a very chill day. We played bingo in the afternoon, but didn't win :( at dinner I realized my phone was missing, and ran back up to the deck to see if I had left it there. It was no where to be found, ...

      Mammola day 2

A travel blog entry by sueesposito on Jun 17, 2014

... some places weren't open on Tuesday afternoon and it reminded us of Filomena saying never travel on a Tuesday. The restaurant Moulin Rouge wasn't open so we went to Le Bottiga de Sapori. It had everything Stocco. The waiter had lived in Canada so he had good English. He sorted my no carne no pesche dilemma and then just kept bringing out dishes for Don to enjoy Stocco in many different ways. It was in oil, a tomato bean mix, thinly sliced, ...

... ravioli. We ended up with an extra salad of roast vegetables though. Whilst eating two men came in and one started to chat to Don about his relatives. He wrote down his connection to Lisa through Paulo in Canada. I think a nephew?? Other people ventured in and it felt like you were the exhibit in a zoo- the strange Australians lol. Just when we thought we could leave Don got convinced to have an espresso and limoncello. Our bill arrived and was only !! Unbelievably ...

A travel blog entry by sueesposito on Jun 17, 2014

... next day we drove to Isola with clear directions on how to get there. Don found a barber which took 45mins for a cut and at least 5 fellas came in for a chat to the barber while he was there. We got mistaken for German tourists by a well dressed gentleman who directed us to an illy coffee place. It was lovely. I went to the Farmicia by myself to get some allergy tablets and after signing, role playing etc We understood each other. We were the only foreigners in town. When we ...

      Ostuni

A travel blog entry by sueesposito on Jun 16, 2014

... lemon tea with milk. Italians make magnificent coffee but tea is a foreign concept. We decided to venture into Ostuni 8 kms away. We had a vision of a small town like Yandina. Think again! It was hectic, busy and parking a logistically nightmare. I used my sign language to ask a shopkeeper if we could park on the street. Not where we were, so she helped us find a park and pointed to the ticket machine. Blue lines you pay, white are free and yellow are ...
