No Passport? No Problem

My brother and I woke up, got our passports handy and prepared for the border crossing to Mexico. Obviously nobody cared much, since we drove right through and our passports were never even checked. I don't know if that's normal, but there wasn't any place where we were forced to stop and everyone just waived us right though. There were places to stop and buy car insurance, but I bought it a couple days earlier online. We began to wonder ...

Drive, Drive, Drive

After my class I left at 9:00 a.m. for Price, my hometown, which is where my brother Logan lives with my mom.  It's about two hours away, so I stopped in Price to get him, pack some camping gear, eat lunch, and we went on our way.  We drove about 10 hours to Imperial Sand Dunes and camped there that night.  Just a lot of driving.  Nothing too exciting about that!

My Very First Adventure

I will always remember my very first trip I ever took. I was 14 and I went to Mexico with a group of people from Mill Creek Foursquare church on a mission trip to help out in some orphanages. I just loved seeing a different culture and way of life! It's when I knew I had to see the world. I wanted to experience it all.

The people in Mexico that I met were all so kind and seemed to love ...

Just an hour until we start riding!

Friends, Family, and Co-workers Well it's 9:00 AM and we are currently driving through Yuma looking for an Auto shop. No, we don't need a lube job on the bikes, but we do have a second car in the caravan that has dashboard flashing red warning lights. With today's technology you often can't distinguish between a warning that your windshield wiper fluid is low, or that three of the four bolts holding ...

... and we're off! Santa Ana to Mexicali

We were up and out of the house fairly early this morning so that we could get on the road and beat the heat. Blake's been watching the weather for weeks so he knew that the high in Mexicali would be about 107. It was hard to tell, though, as we began the trip in a dense cloud cover under the influence of an onshore flow. We drank in the cool air, filling our lungs and feeling it against our skin, as we continued to move south and ...

Escape from Los Angeles!

Today is the day! We've been staring at this date on the calendar for over a year. Months of dreaming, planning, and preparing and the day is finally here! We can't back out now! Oh wait, let me introduce myself: Hi, my name is Jess and I'm a motorcycle junkie. I'm 35 years old and I have ridden and raced AMA National Hare n' Hounds, National Enduros, Observed Trials, you name it, I've done it...or will do it...or want to do it ...

Day Two - Reality Sets In

Wow! I could probably stop there, but then you couldn't laugh at me. Where to start, where to start? The trip was nearly over before it began, as I nearly got a hernia trying to lug my 500 lb. bike (actually 75 lbs.) back to the street after getting my picture taken. Then it was time to deal with the traffic during rush hour as I tried to escape the city. Then I began to climb. And climb. And climb ...

SDA Mission School

Had an interesting adventure with faulty MapQuest directions. We got close to the border, pulled a U-Turn so we wouldn't cross the border. We then got pulled over by the border patrol for an "illegal entry". After looking at our directions and finding out we were on our way to a school, we were let off without a ticket. Just a warning suggestion we stay away from the border-crossing. Praise God we made it in time to do the special chapel service.

Week 6 - Los Mochis to Durango

... have guessed it). Early night and ******n early rise (4am) but fingers crossed the train really is leaving tomorrow. As much as I like Los Mochis its time to move. Maybe not realistic but I am aiming to reach Mexico city (or another major city/ town) for 15th September. That day being Independance day. I expect alot of parties and shouting (hopefully not too much shooting in the air). Sept. 8th - The copper Canyon train and Creel (Mexico) 4am and I wasn't bright eyed and bushy ...

New Day

... and feeling like an overweight turtle. Tomorrow starts with the quick ride up the coast to Los Angeles on the Surfliner train. The flight has a stopover in Toyko(1hour) and then on to Sinapore. I leave at 3pm on Tues and get to Singapore on Thursday in the very early morning. About 18 hours of total travel time. I will update once I have caught up on my sleep.
