A very quite day today we started with a farewell breakfast in the cafe and then the girls played mini golf. Once all packed up we headed to the airport to send the girls back to the cold of Melbourne, leaving 29 degrees to head to 12 degrees. It will be very quiet without the girls we will miss them it was wonderful they wanted to come with us. …

21st July. Sunday
Up early and on the road by 09:00hrs. A stop at Jaques Coffee plantation for morning tea. Nice coffee too.

The drive wasn't long so we were in Cairns by midday. We set up then had lunch.

It was off to town to have a look around. Being a Sunday, it was mostly cafes and pubs that were open. There are plenty of …

Final preparation for The Big Trip to "The Tip"

The majority of our time in Cairns was focused on getting ready for the next stage of our trip. We drove out to the Bunnings store that was nominated as the meeting point for departure to familiarise ourselves and called into the adjacent BCF and purchased a yabbie trap after seeing the success of a chap at the Boulia camel races.

Sunday 21st July.
We left Mareeba at 9am to head for Cairns. Just out of Mareeba we stopped at Jacques Coffee Plantation for a cuppa. Back on the road by 10am we headed for Cairns. Just after Kuranda we started the windy descent into Cairns. Roadwork's in a couple of place slowed the descent arriving at Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort around 11. …

The best Caravan park we have started at hands down. Aimed at kids and families. So many things to do without leaving the gate.

Stayed 4 nights on ensuite caravan site. Excellent facilities. Our caravan is now in the storage facilities whilst we travel to Cape York. The reception staff were very good and helpful with organising my different bookings.

This place is a total resort experience. We were upgraded to an ensuite site on arrival which was the biggest ensuite we have had in our travels so far. The playgrounds, pools and other facilities are enough to keep parents and kiddies busy on any Cairns Holiday. We will be coming back.

Great facilities for families with plenty of kids activities. Staff were very accomodating. Camp kitchens and cooking areas had plenty of space. Campsites were green and clean. Recommend the on-site fish n chips with Barrumundi as the fish served at fair prices. Would stay at this location again.

Great place for the kids to have some fun for a bit. Great facilities, although I think it's rather overpriced, with it costing $68 per night, and that's without having to pay for Beth, from her next birthday, we'll have to pay for her too, so needless to say, no more big 4's from then on!
