This morning we went on a trip to Land's End via St Michael's Mount. St Michael's Mount is a small island just off the coast near Penzance with a small village and castle. It's a very picturesque island, despite the grey skies we had today.
We then ...
... cheaper
we will leave that till tomorrow!
I had 2 long and enjoyable surfs the next day. Our hunch on the town laundry proved correct but not by much (£10.50) That evening we decided to have a wee drink in town for something different. The different part being we were not drinking in scooby we were drinking out in public. To my surprise Kim suggested we check out the ...
... all in all the visit was we worthwhile if only for the excitment it created for our future travels.
From there we headed back to Fowey, this time in the daylight for a late lunch. It is a quaint harbour town in a bay twined with a similarly pretty village on the other side of the inlet(name unknown). We spent an hour wandering through the little alleys and checking out the wee shops before making our way over the ruins of St Catherines castle on the headlands.
... the housekeeper to do the honours by showing them around. Don't think this would happen these days...
The island is twined with Saint Mont Michel in Normandy in France. It is a similar island set up just off the coast which can be reached via a causeway at low tide. We are headed there very soon...
The castle gardens were nice but not breath taking by any means. However, they did offer fantastic views of the castle from ...
... just stoped by a sign for a photo to prove we were there.
Moving right along to Minack theatre, a greek/romanesque ampetheatre stuck to the side of the headland cliffs of Porthcurrno and built in 1923.
Last stop before finding a place to park for the night was Mousehole another very cute village.
We drove through Penzance and found a nice place to park not far from St Michaels Mount. Ready for the next days adventure.
We spent the morning wandering around St Ives.
It is a beautiful village full of art gallaries and narrow streets.
All the walking around made us hungry.
How could I pass up the opportunity for a hearty Beef and Stilton Pasty.
Kim equally splurged on Cornish Cream Scones and coffee ...
... but coming back is the hard part after running for 40 min already.
But what we discoverd on our run is a quaint and picturesque little place worthy of a much closer inspection than a run by allows.
However, that would have to wait till tomorrow as it was sunset by the time we made it back up the hill to the van and we had champers to drink. Why? What is the special occasion? Well, we're on holidays of course so why the hell not!!
... and Kim is content to laze about in the sun 18-20 degrees and not a cloud inthe sky - hard to believe it is mid-october.
Kim found a nice coastal walk to keep her occupied while I was happy as a pig in sh!t scoring waves.
Exhausted we found a spot to park a street or 2 from the beach front to spend the night.
... drop it. Quite entertaining actually! We walked around some more, ran into some friends and set a time for a BBQ at Richs and then headed back to Truro to get cooking! Had about 6 people over christen the new BBQ, which left us with way too many leftovers!
Saturday we woke up early and did a major yoga session. After we headed into town to pick up some final Ball items and then returned to the flat. Another navy GF and then left the boys to go and spoil ...
We have been going to this site for about 10 years starting with a tent and moving up in the world to caravans which we purchased from the site and left down there in storage.
This year we decided to bring the caravan home for some minor repairs to be done and had the tow bar fitted whilst we were down there.
More or less as soon as we got back we had a think about it and thought "Stuff it" we only have a couple of years left on the mortgage so what the hell we ...
