Night out in Copenhagen

... By this point I had already started to guess this wasn't a leather bar on the order of the cuff, or even the eagle in Seattle,... this was going to be a bit more.... shall we say, raw sexuality. That stuff doesn't really faze me though and have no intention in participating, just observing as I've never been into one of this sort. So we get there and it's a full on leather bar/sex club as I expected. We had no intention in doing anything but checking it out and I was ...

Episode II, Roskilde

... taxi driver. That’s $120!!! The moment the $120 was transferred from my hand to his was the low point of the entire holiday thus far. At this moment we were both regretting having Roskilde tickets.
Less than 10 hours after arriving home from London we were on a plane heading to Denmark. When we landed in Copenhagen we caught one of the big, black, scary looking trains without many doors into Copenhagen. We dragged our bags full of clothes that didn’t ...

Well, Copenhagen 'in theory'

If you were expecting to hear about our day in Copenhagen, well, we were expecting to tell you all about our day… Instead we had another quiet day at sea.

This morning during breakfast, as we were eating (as can happen during breakfast) Captain Lis came on to announce that our day in Copenhagen was cancelled. Apparently a sustained wind of 30 miles per hour with gusts of 70 miles an hour isn't the best weather to dock a giant cruise ship. <br ...

Flight from the Faroe Islands and the SIC tour bus

... arrivals. And there is Kalle, the bus driver to take them to the tour bus, that is waiting outside. That went so quickly, got only one blurry picture of Kalle ;D A purple tourbus. The luggage and instruments are packed. Gudmar's girlfriend Maibritt is there also to say goodbye to Gudmar. Then they are ready to go. Me and Maibritt do not get the ride with the bus to Copenhagen, since the route goes to Malmö and that is not past the Copenhagen way. But ...

Cutting Corners, Costs and Calories

... to walk through a nice residential area and then over an historic steel viaduct across the train lines to the front of the brewery. The self-guided brewery tour was the same as when I did it with Charles a few years ago, at which time it was just new. The benefit of the tour is of course the 2 "free" beers at the end, which can be enjoyed in the spacious Jacobsen bar. We started with some Tuborg Golds and then finished off with a Jacobsen boutique beer each. Steve chose ...

Day Five - Copenhagen

... was the only hot food he could get at 2AM. I've been in his situation before - it's NOT pretty. A suggestion which I would make as constructive criticism would be to find some way to have a small plates 24 hour restaurant on board - which either would serve specialties of the ports being visited - or serve something like Tapas, frites, and things which can be dipped with bread or chips. Food that could be taken to your cabin, or to one of the bars to enjoy with ...

A ridiculous trip for a beautiful city

... not really make it seem like a big deal or anything, that it was natural for them to be stopping the train unbeknownst (is that a word?) to all of us. However, we were all very flexible, even a group of people who had been travelling from Paris from the day before and had had a huge delay. I stayed with the girl that I had met on the train, so I would not get lost and at least have somebody in case we got stuck somewhere! We got ...

Copenhagen: Wake me up when it's over

... after coming all this way. Watched the fireworks in the nearby square which was absolutely insane. The noise was deafening and like a worldwide rice krispies explosion. Every so often there'd be delayed bangs which sounded like a bomb going off. Locals let off fireworks in every which direction so had to be on ball to notice that someone standing next to you might just light off a firework next to your feet. It was constant and just kept going on for what ...

Pub Crawl

... and they searched us before we went in! Basically, they did it to steal all of our empty beer cans so they could recycle them for money. You get between 20 and 40 cents a can here, so it's good to keep them. After that we hung out at the fountain in the square by school. Some Danish guys tried to teach us how to tell off guys we didn't like. The f word, it turns out, is universal ...

Berlin to Copenhagen

... only table for most of the meal! In addition our waiter was hilarious. Near the beginning of the evening Maddie asked where the washroom was and the waiter told her there was no washroom. She had a sad/shocked look on her face so he told her she could go in the corner. The whole table was kind of wondering what was up as he had a really serious look on his face, but then he laughed and told her where the toilets were. And it cracked me up! Supper was delicious, and very ...
