... was a lovely way to spend the evening. All the palazzos were lit up and everyone was out enjoying the sites of Venice. (There was a giant spider above back door on the vaparetto which drew a lot of attention as well).
We disembarked at St. Mark's Square and walked around the square, listening to the dueling bands at each caffe, before settling down at Gran Caffe Quadri with a glass of prosecco to cap off our Venetian evening.
... I took the occasional photograph but didn't go crazy with the snapping like some other tourists were, and I hope that I managed to get a sense of the place more that way.
Something that I noticed while I was meandering the many streets is Venice has no roads. It was quite strange to see a city that had no roads and definitely no cars. I even noticed the lack of bicycles which after being in Austria and Switzerland ...
... on this €78,000.00 chandelier, but sadly Rachel pointed out I hadn't won the lotto. Yet. We had another 2 hours, so we had some lunch and kept walking around. Obviously the main reason people come here is for a gondola ride, so that was next. We went all through the city and had quite a fun relaxing time. ... angry and upset. We leave and go back to the train station. We get back to the hotel around 11pm and it's bed time. Bradden and I watch half a movie then go to sleep. I wake up at 9am and go to meet Ash to find a post office. We fail. We spend 45 minutes looking and nothing, so bad. We go back to the common room and skype dad. At 10.30am Ash and Kim check out and head off to the train station to go to Nice. Bradden is still in bed so I head back to the room to relax for a bit. ...
... min bus ride to city of Venice. I have a comfortable and clean cabana for the next two nights! When my friends and I checked in the woman asked for our passports! I was the only one who brought mine! Thank goodness I did or we would have had to find somewhere else to stay. We sat around until 2 to officially check in.
