We had ever quick showers and headed out to the magical city, ready to explore and excited about the prospect of our first Italian feast. We strolled down one of the restaurant lined streets, perusing oversized menus displayed on a-frame signs out the front of the many alfresco courtyards, thinking falsely that we were spoiled for choice. We found one that took our fancy and asked the waiter for a table for two. ...

While the evenings were spent much the same as that first night, alternating between pasta and pizza, wine and beer, the only discernible difference! My final stop in Italy was Venice...wow! ... trucks, everything by waterway and then hand carts. The only down side being the huge crowds, along with the narrow laneways, made for a shoulder to shoulder experience, which did wear thin as the day wore on, but you should put Venice on your must visit ...

Sometimes the streets were so crowded, it was slow moving. Today-May 1st is a bank holiday, so there were lots of people off work.
Took the water taxi back to the bus station. It went thru the Grand Canal, but I didn't take any photos the second time. I gave my window seat to a French woman so she could enjoy it.
Back to the hotel. I get to sleep in tomorrow. Heading for Florence in the afternoon. Tour on the 3rd. ...
