At our first night at an airbnb, we were made to feel very welcome by Vicki and Buddy, they showed us to a very lovely large bedroom with an onsuite. Having slept very well the next morning we left early for Gatlinburg, the second attempt! No short cuts, no scenic routes just the Interstate all the way. We had to pass through Pigeon Forge and we were amazed by the buildings ( if you can call them that ). A play ground ...

... we decided to head for Knoxville. We had booked through Airbnb for tonight and needed to be there at 4pm as Vicki the owner was going out. It was at this point it all went wrong. We travelled through heavy rain, clouds and very twisting roads up and down mountains. We realised afterwards this was Smokey Mountain Pass, reaching a height of over 5000 ft.(No wonder we went through clouds) and realised were going the wrong way when we saw the Cherokee road sign ( this ...

Lots of Pictures- Get a feel for the road. I took I 77 west to the tunnel which crossed into West Virginia and took SR-598 to Bluefield where you see the first great vista. 598 hits 19 s to Tazweil where Rt. 16 starts, "The Back of the Dragon". Wow what a ride. I followed 16 to Rt. 58 at the Log Cabin Store in the pictures. Rt. 58 was a surprise because I was expecting rolling curves and country riding ...

... Gatlinburg. When we first entered the city it looked like a much more laid back place with local shops and galleries lining the street. Before long, though, we were in the thick of entertainmentville again. It was a smaller scale than in Pigeon Forge, but it still had a lot of entertainment and eating venues packed into a small area. There were plenty of hotels and motels along the way, too. Oh, and I have never seen so many 'As Seen on TV’ stores ...

Hi from Sevierville, Tennessee. This morning we prepared to leave the Bear Creek RV Park. The plan was to head to Nashville for a few nights to see the sights there.

While we were doing some cleaning and preparation for departure, I was talking to the next door neighbor, who was loading his BMW Z4 sports car onto his trailer. He was getting ready to leave as well and return to the Nashville area where he lives. I told him we were heading there ...
