    ... the $5 day pass to the park. At least it also was used for Lake Itasca park. Lake Lasalle State Recreation area campground was ok. A reclaimed forest which is trying to come back it is sleepy and also a bit depressing. On the good side it has full hookups and was quiet. After setting up camp we drive over to Lake Itasca to find the headwaters. We spent some time reading about the formation of the area, and the Mississippi ...

    ... re-route to seek the headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi River. We headed west but also north and landed just outside Walker, Minnesota for the night in a lovely campground. Minnesota is the state of 10,000 lakes according to most license plates - though I did see some newer looking ones proclaiming "critical habitat." And lakes there are; Walker is situated on a bay of Leech Lake. We will continue on tomorrow to seek the headwaters of the Mississippi.

    ... up having a great dinner anyways.
    After dinner we parked by the church and walked around town. These small towns are better seen on foot! We discovered Spirit Lake late in the afternoon & I couldn't take enough pictures to actually capture it's amazing beauty! We totally want to buy one of the charming homes on the shore of this picturesque lake with the perfect name!

    Wow!! We stopped at this beautiful Wayside park for lunch & ended up staying 4 days!! There were only 5 RV sites all with full hook ups including free WiFi!! There was only one other camper so we had several nice sites to choose from. We just couldn't believe how wonderful the park was ...
