    ... area nearby (15 miles) or a private RV park. Given the choice between public and private campgrounds, we usually choose public but we did some research anyway on other possible sites. Most private camps were charging $45, one charged $25 and the Lake Lasalle was $34 with full hookups. A bit pricey for public campground but it was near Lake Itasca so we drove there and found the one remaining site. Turns out the $34 did ...

    ... re-route to seek the headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi River. We headed west but also north and landed just outside Walker, Minnesota for the night in a lovely campground. Minnesota is the state of 10,000 lakes according to most license plates - though I did see some newer looking ones proclaiming "critical habitat." And lakes there are; Walker is situated on a bay of Leech Lake. We will continue on tomorrow to seek the headwaters of the Mississippi.

    This little town was just 10 miles from where we were staying in Sebeka.
    Originally we came here to find a laundrymat but we found so much more than one of the nicest places on our trip to wash our clothes. Doing my wash in public laundrymats was one of my biggest issues with traveling across America, so when I find one as clean as this one, I couldn't be happier!

    Wow!! We stopped at this beautiful Wayside park for lunch & ended up staying 4 days!! There were only 5 RV sites all with full hook ups including free WiFi!! There was only one other camper so we had several nice sites to choose from. We just couldn't believe how wonderful the park was ...
