... He is now recovering (after a cold shower too!) and is hoping to be right to ride tomorrow.

We arrived in Leeton by mid afternoon, with the Presbyterian Church feeding us tonight. It was a BBQ, which was great. Locals also made some donations to the cause - thank you.

Maximus's ear was a bit tender when he went to bed tonight - see the photo!

A 131km ride tomorrow to Temora - so early to bed.
Griffith, Australia dirkmarta... quite unusual and very nice (to my pallet, for what that is worth). So, anyone who has never heard of whatever this is - Cam....something or other - can have a taste, as I ordered a carton full to be sent home in early August. We were probably there talking to the lady and me tasting for almost an hour before we headed off to the other place. Unfortunately, when we got there, we could ...
Griffith, Australia newtripper... I found out that there is a show at Hoppers Crossing in October, so must keep an eye out for that one when the time comes. After lunch we headed south again for Catania Farm - it is known as the Fruit Salad Farm, as they have a number of difference crops. The visit here comprises a talk from the farmer's wife, a tour around the farm and a DVD giving an overview of the farm. Typically for the area, the farmer is Italian, and the farm has only had 2 ...
Griffith, Australia newtripperToday we zapped down to Darlington Point about 30km south of here to have a look at the old lift bridge. After having read about it and deciding to go, I found the fine print indicated that it was no longer a bridge over the Murrumbidgee, but the entrance to the caravan park. We went anyway. Today is a bit of a sad day as it would have been Dad's 93rd birthday, so had a bit of a cry when the date sank in (can't usually ...
Darlington Point, Australia newtripper... of it and the dirt gets redder and although not officially outback, you can see we are getting out that way. We come to Goolgowi and I decide to fill up with petrol although I have nearly a half tank. This is not the place to run short - it is over 100km to the next petrol so better safe than sorry. From Goolgowi we head further north to a lovely little town of Merriwagga. It comprises a few houses, a pub, and post ...
Griffith, Australia newtripper... from Orange, they decided to make a "soft sculptured" stage curtain. After holding a contest, a local won the design. It took several months to translate the design into a detailed plan. It was then allocated out to 30 community groups each to make a part. It took just on a year to make the parts and about the same to put it together. In the theatre, you hear a CD telling you ...
Griffith, Australia newtripper... The Warehouse for a couple more door mats - we have some muddy ground around and are going to dispense with our carpet square. Harvey Norman as I need some DVDs. The post office, but no mail yet. The Chemist to get some glocosamine for my arthritis fingers and Ted's prescriptions. Best and Less for a warm dressing gown for Ted and a shoe shop for a pair of slip on things for Ted to wear in the van when his shoes get muddy. Bread from the bakery ...
Griffith, Australia newtripper... and we set off at just on 9:45am. We did discover that some water had got in, which is really not that surprising as we had heavy rain for 3 days. The stitching and some of the zippers have let the rain in - we found a few places where the mattress and sheets are wet. I think when we get home, a visit to the place where we bought the van may be in order. The drive to Griffith was easy. We passed through Leeton shopping center, but as it was Sunday, it was ...
Griffith, Australia newtripper... and settled down to look at our photographs from the last few days. I hear drops of rain falling now, so I'm glad it is nice and snug in here. Time to be getting dinner now - good old curried sausages, great on a winter's night!! Saturday It rained all night. No rain came in, but it is a bit of a nuisance having to put on the rain coat and take the umbrella to go to the loo in the middle of the night. This morning was find misty rain and I ...
