... The second day I hired a bike ( old men are not banned from hiring a bike here) and rode out to two other villages about 25km away - Sixi and Yancun. The owner of the hostel came with me on his bike for the ride. A nice ride and a chance to see the countryside a bit closer up. Lots of rice fields in the valley floors (quite high hills all around), tea plantations on the sides of some of the hills, and the usual vegetable crops - corn, beans, potatoes, peppers etc. Lots ...

... The locals often don't know what street they are in let alone the street you want. And can they read a map? No way. Since I have been here it has rained off and on - more on than off. Rainy season. Its not heavy but wet all the same. And it's hot so the humidity is high making it all a little uncomfortable. Hopefully it clears and I can see the city ( another one with 4-5 million people) before its time to head further ...
