DW Stadium (JJB renamed - long story - you'll have to read the book I bought John on the life of Dave Whelan - he was a local who established JJB stadium for use by both league and football and has now set up his own company DW in competition with JJB in the sportsgoods business) and to watch the Kangaroos play in person. I've only ever watched them on TV. As John said, there was no real booming atmosphere, but the crowd was ...
Wigan, England, United Kingdom pollies... it was a Saturday night, after all...) and then, off to bed. It almost goes without saying that we never actually made it to bed that night. At about 4am our mate who sort of runs the hostel and who had been keeping pace with us all night, drink for drink, called us a cab and that's about all I remember till we touched down in Luton. Considering we did actually make it, I suppose things can't have gone too badly, can they? I guess we'll find out next time we go through, or try to go ...

Liverpool, United Kingdom vincent50... archer's bow were impressed by the wax-work figures and age of the buildings. 1068 for the oldest part of the castle!! the dungeon had an eery feel and the state-rooms were particularly impressive, with their portraits of ex-kings and queens. Including a wall devoted to Henry VIII and his heirem. Mark and Hans had just started a ghost tour of the old castle when a fire-alarm (not caused by us!) evacuated everyone from the area (and most out of the cafeteria) just in time to see ...
Liverpool, United Kingdom cgssoccer... hours in there. The rest of the city was really nice and very clean, aside from the massive amount of construction going on. Liverpool was selected as Europes City of Culture of 2008 so they were doing a lot of preparation for the new year. I would love to come back and see it all finished. There were two beautiful cathedral and a lot of history surrounding the Titanic, which left port from there, and The Beatles. Even though we only spent a day there it was a very nice day.
Liverpool, United Kingdom tmcclurg... from the Liverpool Scooter Club and he had very kindly offered for us to stay at his house for the night - even though he wasn't going to be there - let's call him nowhere man. His girlfriend Lucille, no sorry Lucia, let us in and after a quick dinner we all set off on our respective scooters into town to attend the Liverpool Club meet. I was pleased to see that the tolls are free for bikes (less money for the taxman) and they have even gone so far ...
Liverpool, United Kingdom scootergal... so perhaps I needn’t be so dismissive. Just because a bogan like me can identify with something doesn’t mean it can’t also be regarded as ‘culture’ by the more refined set. So while Ali headed out to Albert Dock for the Beatles Story museum, I took off for Anfield Road.

Liverpool Football Club: A soccer club of monumental proportions, massively successful in English and European competitions, a now glamorous ...
