... I was lucky enough to have the experience of visiting the gardens east of the palace itself, as the palace was more out of bounds.

Not only do these gardens provide beauty, but they also provide peace and quiet from the noisy city of Tokyo. Inside the walls of the gardens lie some of the ruins of the old Edo Castle.

... 2 metro trains and a 20 minute walk before arriving at the museum….only an hour late, quite the feat on little sleep, little food and late arrival. First stop - the café museum provided the sanctuary we needed of good food, lovely people and service, and a chance to rest our weary legs and look around and realize we were indeed in Japan!

Ghibli feels a bit like a Willy Wonka factory Japanese style, very cute and fantastical with lots ...

... my money missing! It was obvious... a ninja stole my money!! By the time I found an ATM that takes foreign cards and got back... I missed the train. I got on the next one only it wasn't an express route and got to the airport just as my plane was taking off. The best deal was $600 for another ticket leaving 4 hours later. Lesson learned...

... shop, complete with awesome 10 lane scalectrix circuit, where you could build your own car and race it - the instructor was even dressed in full F1 race gear (and named Tom)! Jen liked the Hello Kitty floor and the full Brio train set, which included cute wooden bullet trains, was great. After dragging ourselves from the shop we found the Ginza Graphic Gallery, which had a good display, ironically from the Tate London on British graphic art. As we continued ...
