We caught the Eizan Electric Railway to Kurama. We then took the Sakamoto cable car up to Mt Hiei where the Buddhist monastery, Enryakuji complex is. ... so nice, quiet, and calm here. The city is in the country side, which makes it all the more appealing to me!
I have noticed that people here a lot more quieter and polite... and I feel like a loud mouth baboon talking and walking down the street!
I get to rent a bike and shop around today! I am looking forward to seeing what the day ...

We still had some time to kill before our next wwoof host so we decided to lounge around in Gifu city for a few days. Although not regarded as a historic landmark like Kyoto or even Takayama, Gifu had all the requirements for a good sightseeing spot...food, castles and new experiences.

Our main reason for heading to Gifu was to see the Giant Buddha, one of the three largest in Japan. This Buddha was constructed over the span of 40 years ...

Slowly finding time to update my blog. Sunday was a slowish day, had a sleep in before heading to a World Culture Day event were I met Yuri, a nice Japanese girl who wanted to practice English with me and asked to be my friend. We've now sent a couple of emails but without Caitlin to translate, the conversation doesn't go far. Afterwards we went and ordered far too much Chinese but had yummy dumplings so it was all good.
