... is where Kyoto receives it water from. It is the largest freshwater lake in Japan. From there, we walked up and down a gravelly, rocky path. Most of us made it down intact although there were loose rocks and logs. I nearly fell on one of the logs.

... so nice, quiet, and calm here. The city is in the country side, which makes it all the more appealing to me!
I have noticed that people here a lot more quieter and polite... and I feel like a loud mouth baboon talking and walking down the street!
I get to rent a bike and shop around today! I am looking forward to seeing what the day ...

... covered in paper-mache which was collected in the form of written prayers and wishes from across Japan. The monk who initiated the construction spent the better part of his years travelling and collecting these prayers to be used as layers to create this beautiful statue. It was his hope that by erecting this monument he would bring an end to famine and earthquakes that plagued the area. He died before completing his project but the work ...

Slowly finding time to update my blog. Sunday was a slowish day, had a sleep in before heading to a World Culture Day event were I met Yuri, a nice Japanese girl who wanted to practice English with me and asked to be my friend. We've now sent a couple of emails but without Caitlin to translate, the conversation doesn't go far. Afterwards we went and ordered far too much Chinese but had yummy dumplings so it was all good.
