... and still haven’t. First off, it was VERY noisy. Like a very loud casino. These little machines are a puzzlement to me. You put in money and get a series of little steel balls. They go around the machine and gather points for going different places. There is also a video playing in the center. I think you have some control over the video and the direction the balls go but I sure couldn’t figure out what it was so I didn’t play! They are set up much ...

Leg padding?!?!

... padding is only used when the young boys (face-characters) play Santa in the parade. They took the pads out and, WOW, it was so much better.

The exciting part came after work! We we to the 100 Yen store (like our 99 cent store but better stuff!). I love the store and love to find things to decorate my apartment and stuff to fill my kitchen drawers and cupboards. Today I’m going back!

More later . . .

Made it to Narita - what a trip...

... were drastically changed at 5:00am on Saturday morning. Air Canada's flight reservation system apparently went down the night before, wreaking havoc on a number of flights including ours out of Regina. The flight was canceled and we had to be rerouted based on any available seats. Hana ended up traveling via Calgary and Vancouver and I sacrificed myself by traveling through Toronto.

I have never done this trip by going through Toronto and I can ...

Home stay in Abiko

The people here are just fantastic and we have met a number of foreigners now living and studying/working here in Japan. Some of their stories are absolutely fascinating as is this country. I love Japan.

Unable to connect via wireless internet so more difficult to upload photos but may try later.

Japan Begins....

... Narita is home to Narita-san Shinshoji Temple which is a large complex complete with Peace pagoda, gardens and a calligraphy museum. The main building is famous for its Goma rite- a ceremony that prays to Fudomyo, the main deity of the temple, to fulfill our wishes, banish evil and chase away hindrances of passion and false knowledge (ooh er!). Most of the buildings had english explanations except for the calligraphy museum which was still beautiful none the ...

Sayonara Japan!

... No sign of Mount Fuji today because it was too cloudy so it was a good job we went up on the cable
yesterday, Whilst walking round the lake we came across a large group of Yr 2 children on a day out, They had caps in different colours to keep them within their group.

Delays and a Long Flight

I didn't get an upgrade. I was told that they have changed their policy again and aren't doing that. I wish I had known about the policy change when they offered to let me upgrade with miles. I don't know if I would have but I would have thought about it more. I had an aisle exit row seat, so it was pretty comfortable anyway. I got a few hours sleep on the way.

Dann schlafen.

Last days in Japan

... the exit/entrance if there are no cars coming and i a car comes they make it wait until the pedestrians have crossed before they let it opull out. A very inefficient system, surely people can tell if there`s a car coming or not! So after three weeks in Japan it was time to leave for Bali. Although Japan was a lot more expensive than all the other countries I`ve visited so far it was also a lot of fun and definitely a place I would like to return to some day.

Narita City

... yen (one way). Narita City is a modern city or better known as Transit City for transit tourist and airline crew members nightstop. Narita is a well developed city with combination of eastern and western culture. Most shops along the streets of old narita has been renovated into ambiance of international cuisine restaurants/pubs welcoming short stay visitors. On the way to AEON, we were surprised to see one of the biggest indian food restaurant along the ...
