One of the main things we have heard about Tokyo is that there aren't sights that you must see, famous areas or hop on hop off buses that most large cities have, it's a city you walk around and feel. It's a difficult place to describe. We did have a few districts which we were recommended to visit so we decided that this would be the best place to start.
First things first we needed to pick up our Japanese rail pass which we failed to get at the airport after we landed. So ...

When we arrived though, we had no idea where to go, and kept going upstairs - ending up in a room with seats reserved for 4 (we thought at it first it might be for us?) which included, behind the counter, a giant (actually live) owl which stared at us angrily as if we were intruding. I can't even remember who won, but I'm sure I went to bed a winner! ...

... next stop, which didn't open until 9am), we found a Tully's Coffee just opening up and stopped there for a latte. The latte was good, but not cheap. Expect to pay at least 500 yen (about $5) for a coffee. Interestingly, the price for a latte is about the same as that of a plain black coffee. In the US the latte is usually 2x more. So, good bye morning coffee, hello morning lattes!

We took a leisurely stroll through ...

... but instead they were just hanging out in a doughnut shop. The other familiar chain restaurants we see all over the place in Tokyo are Starbucks and McDonald's and a few Subways and KFCs. We continued walking around the streets of Shibuya, mostly just people watching for a few more hours, before we called it a day. We also went into some of the many mulit-leveled arcades in Shibuya. We mostly observed the people intensely and professionally playing the games, some ...
