WE DID: - caught the train from Fukuoka (Hakata) to Nagasaki. As it's the start of Golden Week, a national holiday in Japan the reserved seat tickets had sold out by the time we got round to buying them so we turned up at the station an hour early to queue on the platform for seats - we were first in the queue and managed to get some along with space for our bags, for the 2 hour train journey. - visited the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, Memorial Hall ...

As with Hiroshima, returning outside to a sunny day in the park with lots of schoolchildren about was a happy reminder about how Nagasaki has recovered and is now a flourishing, beautiful city.

Yesterday we started the morning by taking the bus to the rope way that took us to the top of Mt Inasa, with an elevation of 333 metres. The weather started off well, with the sun struggling to shine through the heavy cloud cover and we were very pleased to be able to enjoy the views, but a bit disappointed that our photographs were not so sharp.
