... I want to look like her. She has a gothic style, but since her clothes are Gouk, they've got the Eastern element, which makes it not so dark. Her hair has bright red streaks in the front. I want to dye my hair again. Our trip to Ichinoseki started with a mere visit to Suzuki-san's house. She wanted to take my mom somewhere so I suggested a shrine since we had planned on walking to the local one. Suzuki-san and her daughter ...
Ichinoseki, Tohoku, Japan maverickranger... see. So it's really all odds and ends--a bunch of kabuki dolls, lacquerware and pottery, scrolls, maps and even a family with a trove of intricately drawn human dissection guides. Somehow the elucidation of the human ligaments of the hand are more disturbing in blue ink than the real thing in photos or in the BODIES exhibition. Plus, all the figures for the guides were of caucasians--take from that what you will. Could've gone longer but needed to catch a train--which are ...
Kakunodate, Hokkaido, Japan mchao... tous en costumes ! Tres interessants !
Morioka, Tohoku, Japan clemandpoI stopped off here on the way to Hokkaido to break up the journey. It was actually a bit of a let down as I seemed to arrive on a holiday and there was nothing open and I couldnt find the temples and museums I was looking for! There were some nice ice sculptures though and I had a good hike up a very steep hill. It is very mountainous here and quite beautiful.
Morioka, Tohoku, Japan trixynoden... about 1km to Chuson-ji Temple complex. Apparently this area once rivalled Kyoto for its beauty, and once we walked up the very steep entrance, we weren't disappointed. On the top of this wooded hill were a mass of old temples and shrines and we had some great views over the valley. First we went through the museum which houses 3 large Buddha statues and some of the sutras written in gold and silver. Next to this was the Kanjikido, the Golden Hall, which is a ...
Morioka, Tohoku, Japan chrisharrison... out again to fin some food. After finding it a little tricky to find anywhere, we headed back to the station to find one of the restaurants under the station. We aimed for a place called Osaka Osho which had a nice point friendly looking menu and both tucked into some steaming bowls of ramen. Then back to the inn, putting the heater on full blast and snuggling under our huge duvets, surprisingly comfy on the tatami floor. Kate and Chris

Hiraizumi, Tohoku, Japan cavallette... of tuna (fast becoming our favourite fish), salmon etc, on our way to the train, Jon bought a custard fish (a sweet fish shaped waffle stuffed with custard) , it was easily the best sweet thing We had eaten in a long time, most Japanese prefer red bean stuffing, we have tried this but it is really not so nice especially when compared to the custard one. Then we hopped back on the Shinkansen before reading all the way until we arrived back in the metropolis.
Morioka, Tohoku, Japan jon-daniella... Matterhorn, Jungfraujoch in Switzerland in 2006), the gods aren`t favourable. So we spent a day on trains, funiculars, cable-cars, boats and buses, without even seeing the object of our desires... But it was still nice, of course. After a week in Tokyo we moved a couple of hours north to a place called Mazushima (one of the three most famous sights in Japan, haha). It was like a different world, with no people around after 17.00 and the only restaurant in town taking the last ...
