... and other VIP’s. Walt died before it could open, but Club 33 is somewhat of a Disney legend. You have to be a member to get it, and the wait list for memberships is something like 30 years long (not unlike season tickets to Wrigley or Fenway.) You have to “know somebody” to get in, and it also happens to be the only place in the magic kingdom of Disneyland that sells alcohol. I was fortunate enough to eat lunch at Disneyland ...

My First Week!

... from me! But YES I did make it here safely, and YES so did all of my bags =] My room is very small, but it already feels like home. The people, both on my contract and here in Japan, are incredibly kind. And the food is oshi! (yummy) I didn't realize how much culture I would take in other than the Japanese, but there are people here from all over ...

Tokyo: Byte 2

Having been up really early everyday i layed in deciding to make the most of the lights for one evening so headed out much later to a temple called Sesno Ji, which was beautiful and breathtaking. I saw it from afar after spotting the 5 storied pagoda from the street and made my way past the buddha statues before passing through Thunder Gate past two towering statues of Fuijin the God of Wind and Raijin the God of Thunder. And let me tell you, you would not want to ...

... pretty quiet, we finally found a supermarket equivilent (housed in the basements of department stores) where fruit and vegetables are prohibitively expensive and then went out to a noodle place to have ramen noodles which were great. Anyway, I should probably return outside, today we are conquering Shinjuku and maybe Shibuya! Keep in touch!

Tokyo is Godzilla!(of Japanese cities)

... That was some interesting architecture/sculpture for you. Then, we hopped into a police box to get directions to where Elin wanted to go, then headed so she could satiate her final fantasy craving (it's a really popular video game, whose merchandise is sold exclusively at this shop in tokyo.) Then, a quick, cheap, filling lunch at a chain restaurant here called Yoshinoya (it's basically beef and rice and onions..but delicious anyway!) Then, we hopped on a train headed for ...

A Taste of Tokyo

... on the island tea house. In a clear pond, are two walk ways that lead to an isle located at the center of the water. For a modest price, you can enjoy a traditional cup of green tea (hot or cold) and dessert. This was a perfectly fitting way to end our Tokyo adventure. Tea, traditional style, on a beautiful lake with a wooded, skyscraper background. One guidebook claimed that everyone's Tokyo moment is ...

Japan is .....well....different! It's big - some of the buildings are huge, colourful and at times very confusing! Dom and I have managed to sus out the underground system so not doing too badly although did spend quite a bit of time today walking around in circles! After our long flight yesterday we found the hostel and went for a wander. Started off by finding the imperial palace and a really pretty ...

Japan!

... door behind me. They've provided bath towels, hand towels and even toothbrushes with toothpaste! And the best part is that there are extra light switches, an alarm clock, and air conditioning controls all right next to the bed, so once you curl up you can turn everything off without getting up! I had a good night's rest - I was exhausted since I left Sunday morning and it was Monday evening here before I was getting my first real sleep. But the time change ...

Where did half of Wednesday go!

... those under the legal drinking age but it is simply not a problem here. In fact most of the policemen on the street spend most of their days giving out directions to lost foreigners like myself since there is little else for them to do. As well as the vending machines a few other things are noticeably different here including the mass of telegraph wires overhead on many smaller side streets; automatically closing rear taxi ...

Summer Sonic!

... excellent and well paid for spot in the crowd? Or should I hold in and hope for the best? There was a brief third option, this occurred to me when the started spraying us with a big house. That was to pee and hope to hell that it wouldn't stink on the way home, however I had visions of me stinking out a whole carriage on the train and dying of embaressment stinking like some auld wumman, o pish! The decision was clear, I should hold it in and to massive internal damage but keep ...
