My trip to the Hakone mountain region started with my first ride with the famous Shinkansen train, I was excited like a little boy :-))). ... just conquered. All tired but completely relaxed, the bus ride back to Tokyo was very, very quiet.

So, I started by saying that I scratched two activities from my list. Just four days after returning from Mt Fuji I attended Gion Matsuri in Kyoto, one of the biggest of all the summer festivals in Japan. Been there, done that, and ended up with over 400 pictures because I did so much more than just the festival! I'll save it for the next story, which will hopefully appear ...

... like a modern day ryokan so the room is a living space during the day complete with low level table and traditional tea set, and then the futons come out at night. The night before the planned climb we had a traditional Japanese dinner of about 15 dishes, 2 of which we cooked ourselves. ... we were taken aback by the train station alone. It is huge ( you can easily get lost), with so much going on, lots of signs, people and shops!!!!! We spent some time walking around and checking it out. The building has a glass walkway high in the ceiling that you can walk and get views of the city. Nice!
