Shirakawa-go
... When Joan first visited here in 1989, it was a small village that took a day to get to. Now they have built a road through the mountains that hovers above the valley. The longest road tunnel we passed through was 11 km.
The village was made up of a mixture of newer and more traditional houses. Seemingly these are the only houses of their type in Japan. We went in one where they made silk and gunpowder. It had five floors. It had an open ...
Be a Tram Mania!
... moter vehicles for transportation. The recent achievement is that new LRT called "Centram" has resumed operations after 36 years and is now operating on a loop line within the city center of Toyama. In contrast to bright colours of LRT called "Portram" which runs the north side of the city, the colours of Centram are austerely elegant colours such as black, white and silver.

After this we drove to Takaoka (which is not too far) to a nice Temple which was build around
360 years ago. It had a graveyard next to it with some nice tombstones.

Glass studio in the summer
The glass studio was redecorated for the summer!
The glassworks displayed were all summer-like. Most of the glasses are for cold drinks such as cold tea.
I personally like spiral patterned glass! As those glasses are made by famous designers, they are not always affordable.... Some pieces are very expensive! I should be very careful not to break those pieces..!
Glassworks they sell are great for special occasions such as wedding gifts!
