... and Tokyo is huge. For tea we ate at a Moomin themed restaurant (wouldn't you?!) and headed home via a stop to see the worlds craziest pedestrian crossing at Shibuya. Busy day! Day 2 dawned and we went straight to Yoyogi Park and the Meiji Shrine, peaceful areas in the busy city, despite the numbers of visitors. Here we selected our fortune poems and had a pleasant walk before heading to the CRAZY Takeshita Street in Harjuku. This was crazy busy and full of shops selling ...

... and instead of taking turns, all of the lights turn red and everyone from EVERY direction crosses at once. As you can imagine, it's a huge flood of people all heading in random directions, but there were still no accidents. Not like in the states where people will bump you if you are in their way...the Japanese maintain politeness and somehow all manage to avoid each other.

We were on the hunt for a particular ramen restaurant ...

... decent and affordable hostels being thin on the ground in this city, I had opted for a "cabin", a very Japanese way of spending the night. Basically you get the two square meters you need to sleep on, with a tiny bit of luggage space, and if your lucky, a curtain or partition to separate yourself from your fellow hotel guests.

In this case, the cabin was actually pretty cosy, and included a TV (nothing but Japanese channels though), a fresh towel and pyjamas every day ...
