I took a bus out to the famous bridge and I was lucky to get there before the crowds. It was cool, but then what? You really need a car to get yourself to a trailhead. I have never before experienced a Japanese city where places are not open for business at the call of the rooster. Interesting. Oh well, decided to get my fix from one of those famous vending machines instead - a hot coffee in a can. Tho I was lucky enough to find a cafe right next to the river while searching for my machine. The lady ...

... in business hotels, we decided to stay in an upmarket B&B so we checked our stuff in and headed off for our final stop of the day; the walk out to Angel Rock which is located at the end of a sandbar (there is much contention amongst us whether it is a tidal isthmus or not) which can take place at low tide. Following the heat of the day, the walk along the water and rocks in the evening with the light breeze was ...
