... the town and a fairly decent river (with running water! :o ) separating my district from central Fuku.

The town is a good mix between rural and urban, as there are an array of fairly centralised shops and cafes to stay entertained (including a UNIQLO! :o) , and most people are friendly and encouraging when I attempt to speak my very rusty Japanese!

Yesterday we arrived in Ine. It's a small village located in a bay where some of the houses are built partly above the water so people can store their boat in it. Back down the mountainside in a gondola, we took the ferry across the bay and walked the short distance to the train station, where we boarded our single car, diesel fueled train (most are electric) back to our port city.
