... You drop a few coins into the slot to pay. This was a weird experience. There were so many carp that practically climbed out of the water, onto the dock. And the sucking noise! With all the opening and closing of their mouths, it creates this loud sucking noise. Feeding these fish was a huge hit with both kids.

... We then also had a quick look at Lake Chuzenji which was picturesque with some forested hills in the background. You could rent paddle boats in the shape of a swan to go around the lake if you so desired (we didn't). Well we landed on our feet and no mistake! Nikko is a pretty amazing part of Japan, and considering that we turned up there at the last minute, having booked a hostel about an hour before we showed up, not knowing what to expect - we were really, really lucky with how it turned out

... that machine. Oops, I had not seen her clothes in there and they were washed with our things. Luckily she had a sense of humor about it as we sorted through each other's underthings. I later went back to check on the clothes in the dryer, and I saw she had left me a note along with a neatly folded pair of underwear. The underwear was not mine. Somehow a third person had gotten entangled in the great laundry fiasco. And that's how it goes on the road.
