Today was another 'bus day' as we left the food and wine and lights of Lyon in search of the warmth and sun of Nice. However, before we got to Nice, we made a minor detour to the city of Avignon. The city is still completely enclosed by the original walls and was where the popes resided when it was decided that they should live in France rather than Rome. Like the city walls, the papal palace is still very much intact. The city was very windy and cold, one of the coldest places we had been so...
Nice, France croucherDay five of the tour was a free day in Nice. We had made plans yesterday about how we would spend today, it should have gone like clock work, and it would have too... only I had a minor heart attack when I thought I'd lost one of my passports. You'd think that there were only so many places it could be in a hotel room, and that it wouldn't take long to find. Well you'd be wrong. I spent almost an hour looking for the passport, only to finally find it in a bag that had slipped under my bed. By...

... br>Hotel was fantastic. 5 star luxury with sauna and steam room, which I enjoyed. Roof top pool overlooked the Mediterranean coast line. Ferrari's frequently pulling up out front with people arriving to gamble at the casino (the hotel has its own and is right next door to the main Monte Carlo casino). €500 notes being handed over at casino tables.
I went to the main casino on one night with high expectations. It was v quiet. Probably ...
... the most beautiful boats in the world are in MonteCarlo...
Language is more interesting in france. If we try to do the simple tourist things then most people can work out what is going on but when we try something else eg. going to the doctor (sue has been sick) going to a chemist.. or finding a Laundamatt.. then the language thiig is a bit more animated....
have some grat pics of Nice and French Rivierra to show when we get home...
... Monday’ by the Bangles at the airport. Too true...
12hrs after i checked out of my Barcelona hotel, i am in Monte Carlo!!!!! Luckily got the last bus from the Nice airport to Monaco. Amazing bus trip here. I think i was wide-eyed and jaw dropped for much of it. Although it is night, you can see some amazing views, yachts and cross some bridges with HUGE drop-offs down into the coastal valley. The streets truly are Grand Prix style. Can't wait to ...
POLSKI:
Pociag do Monte Carlo, w obie strony, kosztowal mnie cale 5 Euro, a jazda trwala 15-20 minut. Widoki sliczne, ale najlepsza byla jednak Starowka Monte Carlo oraz samochody ...
... a view to catch up.
Stephen and Cheryl arrived on a later flight and all of us went through the routine all over again. Before dinner time, the Captain introduced everyone to the crew
It was good to see Kelly again. He gave me a big hug and then stood back and said, “I can’t believe how strong you’ve gotten and how tan you are. You’re practically blonde.” (I’ve been putting hydrogen peroxide in my shampoo.)
Tour with Robert and 2 Romanians.
- View of Nice
- View of harbour and fort at Villefranche, one of the nicest views in the world.
- Eze (long walk up, paid for botanical gardens/view area, rushed back down ending up in cemetery?. Eventually found way back down. 30mins tour of perfumery ...
... pokies - winning a few Euro but losing it all for the fun of playing more games. Except the 25c I had left when I printed the cashout voucher to keep as a souvenir. It was far cheaper than the 10 Euro chip Chris kept as a birthday present for his brother. Nowra Dave invested 20 Euro on the pokies, coming away with a profit of 200 Euro!! And most astonishingly of all, Tow won at the blackjack tables 250 Euro, equalling FIVE ...
