So, here I am again, off on another solo adventure. This time though, it's much more a holiday than an expedition of an entire country. I'm away for just a week, instead of a year, to the Eternal City itself, Rome. And instead of skittering about backpacker's hostels I'm staying for the whole week in a hotel. Gosh, aren't I being grown up? Well, I suppose I should be really at 27! There was no particular reason for choosing Rome other than it's somewhere I've never been and I fancied ...

Well, our send off was just lovely! A fantastic roast lunch at Matt's parents house with Wendy, Allan, D, Graham, Harry, Sarah, Shaun and Ben, even Dick, Eileen and Dino attended! ... or make eye contact with people on the tube. I have to learn to run and jump at the wall of people in the tube as the doors open, squeeze my body in and hope others will be nudged and give me space. I have seen on occasions people half in/half out of the closed doors due to failed propulsion or a lack of room inside. Instead of "depart" they say "alight here" at each station. Does anyone ever use this word of the English language and is it very necessary? ...

My Views on What to Do and What Not Do in London

A travel blog entry by fergusbrandon on Sep 25, 2014

Although I have been to London several times, there is a certain magnetic charm that keeps nudging me to come back to this great city in preference to going elsewhere. I keep wondering as to why no other place on earth attracts me so much as London and after a lot of inner introspection, I have come to the conclusion that there is so much to see and do in the city that despite so many visits I have not been able to see and experience the ...
