... br> The next day we took off north through the notorious Splugenpass...pretty views but I'm glad I wasn't driving!
Stopped to hike down the gorge at Viamala which has been carved out by the Rhein River. The next stop was Ruinaulta, where the Rhein flows below white carved cliffs. Our destination for the next two nights is another refugio, Alpenrosli, at St. Antonien. Christoph met up with us and his sister and family came the next day.

Quick entry to reflect a lunch stop in Liechtenstein. This tiny country is most famous for selling postage stamps, and the fact that almost every European tour operator includes a few minutes here so they can boast of another country visited. ... up steep, slippery steps at the side of the waterfall, to walking on open grass-covered mountains. My guide set a pace that meant we could meet the times set by the signposts (times obviously set by taller men and women with longer strides!).

My ever faithful companion Lizzie (who is '84' years old!!) did it all with me and walked twice as far as I did since there were so many incredible smells to explore! We did have one horrendous moment when ...

... A mouse being chased by a cat, came across a cow. The mouse pleaded with the cow could he please hide him so the cow pooped on the mouse. The mouse was almost completely hidden except for his little tail peeking out. The cat saw the mouses tail and pulled and pulled until the mouse was free of the poop. The moral of the story was, not everyone who ***** on you, means all bad, and not everyone who pulls you out of the ****, means all good". Onwards to Munich tomorrow. Xoxo A & ...

      Wonderful Wildspitze

      Thursday 28 August

Moved on this morning, up the Pitztal valley, just south
of Imst. Went up to the Pitztal glacier, taking the Glacier Express(tunnel
train) followed Tyrol’s highest cable car to the restaurant at 3,440m, near the
top of the Wildspitze (3,774m). Perfect weather for a day in the snow – blue
      skies and no wind.

Staying near Jerzens tonight. Had a great evening meal at
      the campsite restaurant ...
